Maladox is the combination of 2 antimalarials i.e. sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine, which is used for intermittent (not continuous) preventive treatment of malaria in pregnancy, in infants. It is also useful in seasonal malaria prevention in combination with other antimalarial i.e. amodiaquine
Sulphadoxine 500mg + Pyrimethamine 25mg Tablets
Adults: The combination is recommended as single adult doses of 1500 mg of sulphadoxine drug plus 75 mg pyrimethamine (25 mg of the sulfa component per kg as a single dose). Children: 2 - 11 months - (5 - 10 Kg) Half tablet. 1 - 5 years - (10.1 - 20 Kg) One tablet. 6 - 8 years - (20.1 - 30 Kg) One and half tablet. 9 - 11 years - (30.1 - 40 Kg) Two tablets.
